Second Order Security was founded on the idea that security only works when it fits how people and organizations actually operate. Controls that look strong on paper but are hard to use tend to be ignored or worked around, which often increases risk instead of reducing it.
We help organizations design and implement right-sized security practices that are effective, usable, and aligned with how their teams work in practice. Our approach looks at both the technical and human sides of security so that controls support the business rather than get in the way.
We work primarily with startups, small to mid-sized businesses, and mission-driven organizations that operate in modern, cloud-based or regulated environments. Many of our clients do not have dedicated security teams. Brandon Wu is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Second Order Security. He has over two decades of experience building and advising security programs in cloud, fintech, and regulated environments, including work at Block, AWS, WeightWatchers, Betterment, and Salesforce.
Brandon focuses on helping organizations turn complex security and regulatory requirements into clear, practical actions. His work centers on embedding security into product development, infrastructure, and daily operations so that teams can move quickly and safely without treating security as a separate or purely compliance-driven function.
